I would like to depart this month from my usual selection of red wines as I am excited to share with you my wine pick for this summer, a white wine, Miriam Alexandra, 2014 Chenin Blanc. First introduced to me by my daughter, Jenna, I was initially a little reluctant to try it as I am not a fan of Chenin Blanc but I was intrigued by the fact that it had slight blend of Viognier. Then when Jenna told me that her friend, Alex Farber, was the winemaker, I knew I had to at least give it a try. Glad I did.
Crisp and fruit forward, Miriam Alexandra Chenin Blanc is comprised mostly of grapes from the Sacramento River Delta with a small amount of Viognier from Lodi. With no oak influence, the taste is refreshing and perfect for summertime sipping or dining. You can play it safe and serve with salads or seafood but if you want to be a little more adventurous, serve it with spicy tuna roll or Thai curry.
Alex Farber, along with the other winemakers at Naked Wines may soon have us rethinking about how we select and purchase wine. You see, Naked Wines is a direct distributor of many wines, including Miriam Alexandra. The winemakers at Naked Wines, with the help of their “angel investors”, make the wines they choose and with no middle man, pass along the savings to their customers. For more information on Miriam Alexandra Chenin Blanc and the other wines available through Naked Wines go to www.NakedWines.com. So, until the next time, what are you drinking? Salute!
